Doggy Day at the Pool

We had a busy day today. First, we took the dogs to the dog pool party that Rec Center in Sandy does each year. Cloe and Daisy both loved it. Cloe was in the water within minutes of getting there. Daisy mostly just let Cloe go into the pool and retrieve the toys, then took them right out of Cloe's mouth.

Cloe seemed to get a lot of water in her ears, and I think she must have been doing her very best to get it out.

This is a great example of Daisy waiting for Cloe to go get the toy, just before stealing it away from her once she reaches the shore.

Cloe used the railing on the ramp in the pool to prop herself up when she got tired. She also liked to stand on it and try to get the toys floating nearby that were just on the other side of the railing. She was never brave enough to go swim around the railing to get them, though.

There are a couple of funny things to notice in this picture. First, look at Daisy's head and lip. She is shaking off and her lip is flapping in the wind!

The best part of this photo, though, is the man standing just behind me, wearing a flowered synchronized swimming cap. What's up with that?!

Cloe is in full swim-stride in this picture, on her way back up the ramp.

Cloe waiting for me to throw the toy or tell her to do something. She's such a good dog!

After the pool, we hurried to a baptism of the daughter of some friends of ours. We got home from that, had lunch, took a little nap, then started listening to the BYU football game on the radio. We heard an Amber Alert, and I knew the girl that was missing. So we went back up to Sandy and helped in the search efforts. After we had finished and just as we were about to leave, they announced that they had found her. It was a relief to know that she was ok. And it was a neat feeling to know that we helped out, and tried to be good citizens. It's a good feeling that you get inside when you do things to help out your local communities.

Looking back on the day, it's interesting to guage the difference in the way I felt during the different things that I did. While the dog pool party was fun, and I look forward to it all year long, it was not nearly as fulfilling as witnessing our friends' daughter's baptism, nor was it as meaningful as hearing the officer tell us that the girl we had just been searching for for nearly two hours had been found alive and well.

It was a good day. A very good day.

Before I even read about the flowered synchronized swimming cap, I saw it and started laughing:) Seriously...what was he doing with that?
I'm just in awe that you were able to go to the pool, TAKE A NAP (never happens around here), go to a baptism, and help with the search efforts (Amber Alert)...all in the same day. You are Super Woman!!!
