Get it Yourself

I was walking through my neighborhood this afternoon when school let out, and my street was bombarded by dozens of kids walking/riding home from school. I happened to notice three boys (that I did not recognize) coming down the street with a basketball. They did not have backpacks on. At first I didn't even think about this strange picture, but when I saw who I can only assume was one of the boy's sister tagging along behind them, loaded down with backpacks and bookbags, I understood. That girl is carrying all of those boys' bags so they can play with the basketball? What's up with that?!

As I got closer I heard her say to the boys something to the effect that she was going to drop all of the bags because she was tired of carrying them. (This kid was seriously loaded down with bookbags - of course, we're talking elementary school, so they couldn't have been too heavy, but still!) Then I heard the response from one of the boys: "Ok, drop them, and you can come back and get them later."

I thought, what an ungrateful little punk. Here is this girl, probably his little sister, that he made carry all of these books, just so that he could walk home without a backpack and play with a basketball with his friends. If I were her, I really would have dropped the bags and make them carry their own. He's the one that would get in trouble, not her. At least in my house that's the way it would be.

If my son ever made my daughter carry his books just so he could play around and have fun, he would be in big trouble. If anything, the boys should be carrying the girls' books. Let's learn a little bit about being a gentleman, here. Seriously. This is why I don't have kids. I can't put up with crap like this!

That's pretty sad. And awful. I hope I never ever catch my son behaving that way.

what punks! I'm glad I didn't see it. I would have seriously embarassed those boys.

RUDE! That poor girl. If I ever see things like that happening here (school), you don't worry...I am vocal about it.

This is why you'll be a great mother! That kind of stuff shouldn't happen.
