The Enabler

Let me first say that I think people with credit card debt need to deal with the trouble they've gotten into and pay off their money to the companies they owe it to. The government should not be bailing them out, or trying to help protect them because it feels "sorry" for them.

Now, in an article you can find the following:

"The president noted that nearly half of all Americans carry a balance on their credit cards, and that their average balance is more than $7,000.

Obama decried the “uneasy, unstable dependence” that a minority of card users have on credit.

“So we’re not going to give people a free pass, and we expect consumers to live within their means and pay what they owe,” Obama said. “But we also expect financial institutions to act with the same sense of responsibility that the American people aspire to in their own lives."

I wish that I could write a note to the president, and that he would read it, and take it to heart. I would say, "If you 'expect consumers to live within their means and pay what they owe' then you had better start setting a better example yourself. Because all of the government spending, bailouts, and debt that you have caused this country to accrue in your very short term in office is not teaching the American people by example nor is it demonstrating any sense of responsibility, like the responsibility that you think Americans should have in their own lives."

Seriously, how can the president that we have now talk about financial responsibility? He's telling Americans to be responsible with their money, yet he's bailing them out left and right when they aren't responsible with it. He's what is known as an enabler. And an enabler is the worst type of person to have on your side when you are trying to get back on your feet, for an individual or a nation.

What?! The govt lead by example? Yeah; tell Mr Obama to put his money where his mouth is.

(I think you should send him that letter.)

I totally agree. You should definitely send him that letter. Unfortunately you have to know that it will never change...
