I used to think that maybe I'd be that mean old lady that keeps kids' balls when they land in my yard. But if I ever move to Blue Ash, Ohio, I'll have to remember that if I become that woman, I just may get arrested, like this 89 year-old woman did.
So, I had to roll my eyes on this one and ask, "Really? Really police dept? You are arresting her for the ball landing in HER yard?"
If the police had any brains at all, they would have told the kids that they shouldn't have played in her yard. When this has happened at my house, I tell the kids they have have whatever has landed in our yard when their parents come and get it. That usually solves the problem.
No kidding. I have since listened to a news story about this and they said that the little boy had worked very hard to earn the $15 to buy his own football, and that since the lady would not give it back she was charged with petty theft.
HEY KID- If you work really hard to earn something, you had better take care of it, and not let it land in this lady's yard. She had warned you multiple times not to do this, and not to trespass on her yard!
They should have charged the kid with trespassing!
HAHAHA! I laughed when I saw this on the news last night. First of all...she needs to loosen up about a kids ball on her yard. Sometimes the ball flies over your head and it goes over there.
Second of all...maybe he needs to change the direction of which he is throwing to ensure that he doesn't lose a ball in her yard.
I think it was extreme to arrest her, but I also think it was extreme for her to get so mad about a ball being in her yard. Holy cow. Does she hate children? It's just a ball.

Maybe she's a big fan of The Sandlot.
