New update on Boiling

40 seconds till tiny bubbles
1:45 till simmering
2:10 till a rolling boil

These are the times it took to boil water using the regular hot water and hot stove, rather than the super duper hot water that I used yesterday. All that is left is to see how long it takes to boil cold water... STAY TUNED...

I think you have too much time on your hands:o) Do you want to come over...I have plenty for you to do!!! What I would give to have time to watch water boil!

Spencer says "Wow".

I once had a chemistry professor tell us it was faster to boil cold water than hot. No one said anything. I think he was just checking to see if we were awake.

By the way, I told Spencer about the "Home Depot" comment from last night and he said he would have gotten the joke. Unfortunately, it would not have changed his mind about the stupid shirt

Just to let you know the facts about that. I finished up the experiment today with the cold water.

2:02 - tiny bubbles
4:10 - simmer
4:42 - rolling boil

So, no - cold water does not boil faster than hot water. Actually, I remember trying this once at sea level, too. It took 7 minutes for cold water to boil.
